1. Costa Rica
Costa Rica was named Travel and Leisure’s 2024 Destination of the Year, and for good reason. Nestled between the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea, Costa Rica beckons travelers with its lush rainforests, incredible wildlife, and beautiful beaches. With some incredible lodging options – from the community of Las Catalinas to the refreshed Four Seasons Resort – there is the perfect option for anyone. Now is the time to discover what makes the Pura Vida lifestyle so special.
2. Athens, Greece
Greece was one of my favorite trips this past year, and I was simply captivated by the vibrant city of Athens. From ancient history, shopping and art galore, to incredible food and beautiful rooftop spaces to sip cocktails – Athens is set to surprise and enchant. The newly opened boutique hotel, the Dolli, is a fresh addition to the Athens hotel scene. Looking for a more relaxing stay out of the hustle and bustle? Head to Athens’ riviera where you will find the brand new One&Only and stunning Four Seasons. Athens should not be just a one-night stay on your way to the islands. Spend a little more time and experience all this city has to offer.
3. Botswana
For a spectacular and authentic African safari experience, it does not get better than Botswana. Considered one of Africa’s most exclusive safari destinations, here you will find incredible intimate lodges, plenty of wildlife, and very few other visitors as you explore this unspoiled destination. The Okavango Delta is brimming with diverse wildlife and some of the best luxury lodges in Africa. If you have not yet been on a safari, it is the time to go. For a family trip or romantic honeymoon, it is a truly magical experience.
4. Peru
Peru, a land steeped in ancient history and vibrant culture, is a must-visit destination. From the captivating streets of Lima, to the beauty of Titicaca, to the wonders of the Machu Picchu, Peru is a wonderland of culture and color. With beautiful hotel and train options from one of our favorite brands, Belmond, you have great accommodation options for your journey. We are also obsessed with the new Amazon river cruise line – Aqua – which is in our opinion the best way to experience the Amazon. Navigating the various options, hiking trails, altitude, trains, and Machu Picchu details can be daunting – so let us help with the logistics so you can really experience the best of this unique country.
5. Anguilla
Anguilla has always been a favorite hidden Caribbean gem for JWT. This island paradise offers beautiful white sand beaches, incredible luxury hotel options and a thriving culinary scene. The Belmond Cap Juluca and the Malliouhana are some of my favorite resorts for couples in the entire Caribbean. With direct flights from Miami, it is even easier to get to Anguilla than ever before. 6. Big Sky, Montana
For those in search of beautiful US retreats, Big Sky, Montana, stands out in 2024. A haven for outdoor enthusiasts, this destination has incredible skiing in winter and an array of outdoor experiences for all in summer. Fabulous new hotels have been coming to Big Sky as well. The Montage Big Sky opened up in 2021 and the ultra-lux One&Only is slated to open this year. Whether you're an avid skier or just want to escape to the great outdoors, Big Sky is waiting to welcome you.
7. Mongolia
In very few places can you go glamping in an authentic yurt while being immersed in the unique culture of a nomadic tribe – but you can in Mongolia. Mongolia has always been considered very “off-the-beaten-path” but it is going to be a bit more accessible this year for those intrigued by this alluring destination. In addition to some recent luxury lodge openings, the country has announced the first direct US flight coming this year to its new airport. Looking for a truly immersive cultural experience away from the crowds? Mongolia may be calling your name.
8. French Polynesia
The Olympics are in Paris this year, but did you know the surfing competition will be held in French Polynesia? French Polynesia’s postcard-worthy overwater bungalows and crystal-clear lagoons remain the epitome of tropical luxury. You might be pleasantly surprised that Tahiti is closer than you think, only a couple hours further than Hawaii from the US. From Bora Bora to Moorea, French Polynesia continues to be a dream destination for those seeking unparalleled relaxation and romance.
9. Colombia
Colombia, a hot destination for 2024, is worthy of adding to your must-travel list. A country brimming with diverse landscapes and vibrant cities, Colombia invites travelers to explore its riches with some new nonstop Delta flights from Atlanta to make it even easier. There is no shortage of beautiful hotel options including the gorgeous Casa Pestagua boutique property in Cartagena. 10. Silver Nova by Silversea Cruises
Ok, so this is not technically a destination, but we wanted to highlight our favorite ship that launched this year: the Silver Nova by Silversea. This ship has a completely innovative and fresh design with an asymmetrical layout to provide the best views. Much smaller than the mega ships on the seas with thousands of passengers, the Silver Nova only accommodates 728 guests – providing a much more personalized and elevated experience. This is not your typical cruise, people! Silversea has also put an emphasis on sustainability and creating the most environmentally-friendly ship possible, something that we love and hope to see with all ships in the future.
